Travelling...

Reading other blogs and websites of people that have made a life choice to spend years travelling around the world, just makes me really jealous..

Since I can remember I have always had the desire to travel, to meet new places, different people and used to struggle quite a lot with people that didn't share this passion with me, to the point that I had arguments with people that use to tell me that they have not the slightest wish to see the world. - The idea of this really confused me - how can one NOT want to see the world.
I still struggle to understand these people but at the same time I have come to realise that some people are like me and some people will quite happily live in one place all their lives and will never feel like they have missed out on anything.

Since those days, I have moved to London and have managed to see a little bit of the world but only for short periods of time, not for a six months or a year, and this is what I would really LOVE to do. This idea is in my mind all the time, but it never seems to be the right time to take so much time off work or things happen that pretty much make it impossible to hand in resignation. Maybe one day I'll just stop caring whether its the right time or not and just do it, for now, I'll just keep waking up in the morning coming to work and plan my next holiday.

Well done to all the people that found their right time or just stopped caring.

Another day

Jan 3rd 2007 - And could i be anymore bored???? Noooooooooooo...... of course I'm working. well, I'm here, obviously not working very hard!!!!

Feeling a bit shit this morning - my whole body is sore, the 30 minutes on the bus and train were just horrible, I obviously had a few paracetamol, so feeling marginally better right now.Its just plain boredom.

And right now, cant think of anything to say.. BRILLIANT...

It's one of those days, I just wanna go home curl up in bed and sleep..

Hello there...

After a few months with no news.. ( wots new!!!!).. Just thought I'd let you know, wot I've been up to.

December was a busy month for me, went to Portugal for 10 days, spent the first 4 with family and then headed to Lisbon to stay with friends. Always a pleasure to go home, despite all the issues and the fact that I always spend way too much money (my credit card balance is quite scary at the moment).
Came back from Portugal for 4 days then headed to Ireland for Xmas, spent time in Laytown and Bettystown- nothing much happens around there, so besides spending time in the Pub, and go for a walk on the beach on Xmas day ( after all the turkey and ham, really needed a walk), we pretty much just chilled out.. Also went for a drive to Kells, which is were is B's family comes from, again very charming town.. with not much happening.. :p

Came back to London on the 27th, back to work for 28th and 29th ( the joy, the joy!!)

New years celebration was spent with friends at the Elgin, turned out to be a really good night,sambuca did probably have a bit to do with it.. And obviously D. singing 500 miles on Karaoke -- Great stuff...

And its now all over, back to work today.. for a change nothing is working properly, luckily lots of people still on holiday, so up to now no idiots on the phone with a completely stupid complaint.. ( I love my job, REALLY!!).

Havent made a new years resolution yet - still thinking about it--... but for all of you that did - HOPE YOU MANAGE TO GET THRU THE NEXT WEEK, WITHOUT FALLING INTO TEMPTATION.. :p -- If you do, oh well, U've got another 12 months to try... ;-)

Now time to pretend I'm doing some work!!!

With New year resolutions or not... Hope everyone has had a BRILLIANT New Year's Eve..

We go to liberate, not to conquer.
We will not fly our flags in their country
We are entering Iraq to free a people and the only flag which will be flown in that ancient land is their own.
Show respect for them.
There are some who are alive at this moment who will not be alive shortly.
Those who do not wish to go on that journey, we will not send.
As for the others, I expect you to rock their world.

Wipe them out if that is what they choose.
But if you are ferocious in battle remember to be magnanimous in victory.
Iraq is steeped in history.
It is the site of the Garden of Eden, of the Great Flood and the birthplace of Abraham.
Tread lightly there.
You will see things that no man could pay to see-- and you will have to go a long way to find a more decent, generous and upright people than the Iraqis.
You will be embarrassed by their hospitality even though they have nothing.
Don't treat them as refugees for they are in their own country.
Their children will be poor, in years to come they will know that the light of liberation in their lives was brought by you.
If there are casualties of war then remember that when they woke up and got dressed in the morning they did not plan to die this day.
Allow them dignity in death.
Bury them properly and mark their graves.
It is my foremost intention to bring every single one of you out alive.
But there may be people among us who will not see the end of this campaign.
We will put them in their sleeping bags and send them back.
There will be no time for sorrow.
The enemy should be in no doubt that we are his nemesis and that we are bringing about his rightful destruction.
There are many regional commanders who have stains on their souls and they are stoking the fires of hell for Saddam.
He and his forces will be destroyed by this coalition for what they have done.
As they die they will know their deeds have brought them to this place.
Show them no pity.
It is a big step to take another human life.
It is not to be done lightly.
I know of men who have taken life needlessly in other conflicts.
I can assure you they live with the mark of Cain upon them.
If someone surrenders to you then remember they have that right in international law and ensure that one day they go home to their family.
The ones who wish to fight, well, we aim to please.
If you harm the regiment or its history by over-enthusiasm in killing or in cowardice, know it is your family who will suffer.You will be shunned unless your conduct is of the highest -- for your deeds will follow you down through history.
We will bring shame on neither our uniform or our nation.

It is not a question of if, it's a question of when.
We know he has already devolved the decision to lower commanders, and that means he has already taken the decision himself.
If we survive the first strike we will survive the attack.
As for ourselves, let's bring everyone home and leave Iraq a better place for us having been there.
Our business now is North.

Weekend - at last

Is it just me or this has been THE longest week ever...
Finally friday night, its not even because I have any really exciting plans,but just the idea of not having to wake up tomorrow and go to work is enough to make me really happy..


Tomorrow heading to Kent to visit friends and see Paul's album launch... Check out www.4thwall.net -- really really excited about that, it'll be a FANTASTIC night..
